Gemcom Releases Next Generation of Whittle Strategic Mine Planning Solution

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 24, 2006) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), a global provider of mining software and service solutions, today announced the release of Whittle 4, the latest version of its industry-standard strategic mine planning software, which enables mining companies to maximise the economic return of their operations.

"When conducting feasibility studies, banks and potential investment partners ask miners if a project has been 'Whittled', reflecting the trust people place in its ability to determine the economic viability of a deposit. When optimising mine plans, more mining professionals depend on the system than any other to maximise NPV because it allows them to understand the impact of all the variables that can influence the profitability of an operation," said Rick Moignard, Gemcom's President and CEO.

"One of the drivers behind Gemcom's recent acquisition of Surpac Minex Group was the opportunities it provides us to expand Whittle's leading market share by cross-selling it to the Surpac client base, which exceeds 5,000 users, the largest in the industry. We have seen great success already, with momentum continuing," said Moignard.

Following the Surpac Minex acquisition, the Company now has market-leading status in Australia with respect to mine planning software. This bodes well for future Whittle sales growth as the software is used to optimise the mine designs developed in such systems.

Whittle 4 offers new tools that provide mining companies with more capabilities to help them improve NPV, It also includes significant architectural upgrades, speeding load and save performance by up to 30%.

More information about Whittle 4 is available on Gemcom's website, www.gemcomsoftware.com.
