Gemcom Releases Whittle 3.4: the Industry-Standard Strategic Mine Planning Solution; a Mine Scheduling and Pit Optimisation Solution for Engineers, Mine Planners and Geologists

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2005) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM) is pleased to announce the launch of Whittle 3.4, the latest strategic mine planning solution designed to help engineers, mine planners and geologists maximise the economic potential of their operations.

"Whittle is the industry's most popular and effective strategic mine planning software," said Gelson Batista, Product Manager, Whittle.

"Mining professionals rely on Whittle to optimise plans and schedules at mining operations," continued Batista. "These professionals provide us with feedback suggesting how we can improve Whittle and we've incorporated more than 50 of those improvements into Whittle 3.4."

Whittle 3.4 delivers tools to help clients work more efficiently and to better understand their project data. With the new Multi-Window Views feature, clients have the ability to display several items on-screen at the same time. This means that clients can visualise and compare information more quickly and also communicate results to colleagues more effectively by showing multiple schedules simultaneously.

Whittle 3.4 also helps clients audit and review their project data with a new feature called Data Inspector. To help users visualise actual distances between different points in their projects, User Definable Grids have been added to the system's 3D Viewer.

Whittle is a key component of Gemcom's Mine Production Management Solutions (MPMS). A fully implemented MPMS will improve everyday efficiency at mining operations, provide timely, full value chain analysis and support consistent, predictable output from the mining operation.
