Gemcom's InSite Mining Platform Selected by African Gold Miner

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 20, 2006) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), a global provider of mining software and service solutions, today announced that it has completed the first phase of an implementation of a mine production management solution featuring its Gemcom InSite system at Crew Gold's SMD Lero gold mining operation in Guinea, West Africa.

SMD Lero is embarking on an expansion project to ramp-up mining production from 3.5 million BCM to 20 million BCM per year and treatment throughput from 1 million to 6 million ore tonnes. To help them achieve these productivity increases, the company sought out a mine reporting and data management system.

"Gemcom's partnership-based approach to working with its clients to address their business goals was a key factor in winning this contract," commented Warren Johnstone, Vice President of Gemcom's Africa Business Unit. "The InSite solution will provide SMD Lero with the capabilities it needs to view and analyse production information to support decision making and drive process efficiencies. The system will also provide easy, consistent access to budgeted and forecast production and to daily and monthly production reports."

Gemcom's InSite platform is the next generation of the Company's mine performance management technology, which builds upon more than 15 years of helping major mining companies around the world drive productivity and profitability.
