WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Mar 11, 2014) - Shannon Ingram, President of GenAge Marketing ("GenAge"), will be speaking at the American Society on Aging's annual "Aging in America" conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA, which runs from March 11-15, 2014. The event is the largest multi-disciplinary conference on aging with more than 3,000 attendees gathering to explore best practices and replicable models for serving an aging population.
Ingram, an author and experienced professional in the field of marketing to Boomers and seniors, is a featured speaker in two of the conference sessions this week. The first session on March 12th is titled "Alternative Housing Options for Seniors and Disabled Persons." With limited funding for affordable senior housing and the huge senior surge expected as the Boomer generation ages, the need for alternative models is becoming greater. Ingram will discuss an innovative housing model for a combined community of active seniors and developmentally disabled young adults backed by focus group findings of community acceptance among both target markets. Her co-presenter is Dr. Joan Branin, Director of the Center for Health and Aging at the University of La Verne.
Ingram will be featured again on a March 14th panel titled "Aging Extremes: How Seniors Over 85 Exceed Society's Expectations." Today the number of seniors over 85 who are active and living alone is much greater than it was 20 years ago and this trend is expected to continue for the next 30 years. This session will address how families can keep older adults safe in their homes. Ingram will draw on her experience as a family caregiver chronicled in her book, The Heart Way - A Journey from Corporate to Care. Her co-panelists are Dr. Marilyn Ditty, CEO of AgeWell Senior Services and Mary Tennyson, CEO of StashAll, LLC.
