Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Gene Spiegelman, Vice Chairman, has been named head of the firm's North America Retail Services group. Gene is based in C&W's world headquarters office in New York's Midtown Manhattan.

Since joining the firm nearly 15 years ago, Mr. Spiegelman has consistently ranked among the firm's top producers and has made material contributions to the growth and success of Retail Services. His knowledge of retail site selection, development and leasing, and negotiating business terms essential to retail transactions have distinguished him in the industry.

Mr. Spiegelman has also taken a leadership role in the firm's global retail expansion initiatives. Over the years, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to globalize the business. He has worked together with many other key C&W retail professionals, including David A. Green, Brad Mendelson, Kazuko Morgan, Joanne Podell and more recently, Laura Pomerantz, who joined the firm as head of Strategic Accounts, to build a formidable retail platform in the Americas, and has mentored many of our emerging retail talent around the world.

Mr. Spiegelman has partnered with some of the finest retailers and landlords throughout the United States, including Crate & Barrel, Millennium Partners, Century 21 Department Stores, Zeckendorf Development and CH Carolina Herrera.

As the Head of North America Retail Services, Gene will partner with John Strachan, Global Head of Retail; Mark Burlton, Global Head of Cross Border Retail; Justin Taylor, who has recently been named head of Retail Services for Europe, and James Hawkey, head of Asia Retail Services. Together, this team will work closely to ensure our retail professionals continue to dominate the sector globally and continue to provide creative real estate solutions to drive meaningful value to our clients. Mr. Spiegelman will take over retail services from Matt Winn, who will leave the firm to pursue other career opportunities.

Mr. Spiegelman is a two-time winner (2008 and 2001) of The Real Estate Board of New York's Retail Deal of the Year, one of the industry's highest honors in New York, for representing Gucci in its lease to Diesel at 685 Fifth Avenue and Crate & Barrel in a 48,000 square foot lease at 611 Broadway. This year, he led a global team in representing Millennium Tower/Burnham Building in Boston's famed Downtown Crossing. The landmark transaction marked the most significant retail deal in modern-day Boston history.

C&W's retail professionals are consistently recognized with industry awards throughout the years, including most recently the 2014 REBNY Robert T. Lawrence Award and the 2014 REBNY Salesperson of the Year Award presented to David A. Green and Jason Greenstone, respectively.
