General Environmental Management (GEM) Initiates Brownfield Redevelopment Division

POMONA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 19, 2005 -- General Environmental Management, Inc. (OTC BB: GEVM) announced today the formation of GEM Brownfield Redevelopment (GEMDev). GEMDev is a new division of GEM focused on the redevelopment of Brownfield properties. It is tasked with identifying contaminated industrial property and leveraging internal and external resources to remediate and recycle the land for re-use.

Outside of eliminating public health and environmental hazards posed by contaminated properties, redevelopment of land helps promote urban in-fill, curve urban blight, reduce commutes, protect open lands, and revitalize urban communities. In California, there is an estimated 100,000 Brownfield sites with a fair market value well into the billions of dollars.

In addition to the site-clean up resources of GEM's EnviroConstruction division, GEMDev has assembled a team of independent environmental consultants, private equity investors, and real estate developers to convert properties with environmental liabilities into real estate assets. Gail Brice, a Business Development professional with 25 years experience in the environmental industry has joined General Environmental Management to build and develop its Brownfield Redevelopment efforts.

Tim Koziol, Chairman and C.E.O. of GEM, stated, "GEM will continue to pursue opportunities to participate in reclaiming land not fully utilized because of past contamination by partnering with a hand picked team of professionals. GEM is dedicated to the recycle/reuse options in the management of the hazardous waste generated by its over 1000 industrial and military customers. With the formation of GEMDev, the company will also recycle and reuse properties contaminated by hazardous waste from the past."
