Genesis Plastics Welding Opens $500,000 ISO Class 7 Medical Clean Room

Expansion Increases Production Capacity of Radio Frequency Plastics Welding and Heat Sealing for Medical Devices, Equipment and Supplies

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - Genesis Plastics Welding, one of the industry's leading medical device contract manufacturers for radio frequency (RF) plastics welding and RF heat sealing, recently completed a $500,000 expansion of its Class 7 clean room to increase production capacity of RF plastics welding and heat sealing of medical devices, supplies and equipment. The construction project doubled the size of Genesis' original medical clean room.

The medical clean room initiative is only one component of Genesis' larger corporate expansion strategy. Over the last year, the company has been aggressively gearing up for anticipated growth. In 2010 Genesis appointed Tom Ryder as the company's president and chief executive officer after eight years of service. During the last 12 months Genesis has made several other significant investments that have resulted in the expansion of key vertical markets, including healthcare/medical and military. Next steps include adding 50,000 square feet of production space and hiring approximately 50 additional employees.

"Our expanded medical clean room is the cornerstone on our new strategic direction," said Tom Ryder, president and chief executive officer of Genesis Plastics Welding. "With an emphasis on the healthcare/medical market, our medical clean room represents a distinct differentiator in the worldwide medical device, supplies and equipment sector. In addition, our Midwest location gives us an added advantage of assisting the U.S. healthcare/medical market with logistics cost savings."

Genesis' expanded clean room meets the medical device clean room requirements of an ISO Class 7Standard 14644clean zone for particle count testing. The medical clean room features a number of plastic heat sealing processes including impulse welding, sonic welding and RF welding of both polar materials and non-polar materials. Thermoplastics heat sealing of non-polar materials is achieved using ecoGenesis™, the company's proprietary technology.

Genesis is a plastics welding contract manufacturer capable of producing Class I, Class II and Class III medical devices and sub components. Some of the healthcare and medical device, supplies and equipment Genesis manufactures include inflatable components, oxygen hoods, surgical instrument covers, compression therapy and DVT sleeves, cooling caps, disposable warming blankets, cooling therapy products, fluid bladders, drainage bags and medical balloons.

About Genesis Plastics Welding
Genesis Plastics Welding is one of the industry's leading contract manufacturing companies that specializes in radio frequency (RF) plastics welding of thermoplastic products and components for industries including medical, military, automotive, marine and consumer products. Unique to the plastics welding industry, Genesis' proprietary heat sealing technology allows RF plastics welding of polyethylene, polypropylene and nearly any low-loss polymer in film, foam and fabric layers. The technology is an ideal replacement for Polyvinylchloride (PVC) and Polyurethane with "green" phthalate-free plastics as it causes polymers with low dielectric loss factors to respond to RF plastics welding just like PVC. The company's plastics welding technology, ecoGenesis™, also aids in cost reduction as it eliminates the need for expensive heat seal additives and enables the substitution of lower cost raw materials. Available for private licensing to manufacturers, ecoGenesis can be quickly integrated into any existing RF heat sealing machine.
