Genesys Works Attracts HP Executive to Lead Houston Operation

Dan Wampler, Entrepreneur and FORTUNE 50 Businessman, to Become Executive Director - Genesys Works Houston in January

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Genesys Works, a national non-profit organization headquartered in Houston, Texas, recently announced a new Executive Director for Genesys Works Houston, its flagship operation. Dan Wampler, currently a Geographic Vice President and General Manager for Technology Services at HP, the global technology powerhouse, will take the reins on January 3, 2011.

"Dan has been involved with Genesys Works as an advisor since it was little more than an idea in my head, in 2002," recalls Genesys Works' Founder and CEO Rafael Alvarez. "Dan has advised us every step of the way during these last eight years of high growth. I am thrilled that he has now decided to make a major career change and dedicate his full attention to Genesys Works so that we can serve many more students and connect the business and education worlds in a major way."

Wampler's legacy with HP (and its previous Houston-based acquisition, Compaq Computer Corporation) includes more than a decade in successful leadership roles, ultimately running a $650 million business unit for HP with over 500 professionals. Prior to that, as an individual entrepreneur, Wampler demonstrated his business acumen by successfully starting and growing a corporation that grew to more than $260 million in annual revenues over just 8 years.

Twila Day, Senior Vice President, CIO for Sysco Corporation and Chair of the Genesys Works Houston Board of Directors, conveyed much enthusiasm for the announcement.

"We pride ourselves on managing Genesys Works with solid business principles and real accountability to our students, our partners, our funders and our staff. Dan's experience in both entrepreneurial environments and major corporations will be a major catalyst for growth."

Dan Wampler is excited to be joining Genesys Works at this time in his professional career.

"I have been a fan of Genesys Works' innovative model that presents a win-win opportunity to students and corporations alike since the day it started," said Wampler. "I have been blessed with a successful corporate career and now this is my opportunity to apply my experience and knowledge into improving the lives of students who are economically underprivileged, yet certainly capable of succeeding in the corporate world the way I have."
