Gentex Ranked Top Large Manufacturing Workplace in Michigan

ZEELAND, MI--(Marketwire - Nov 16, 2011) - Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: GNTX), a high-tech manufacturer in West Michigan, was recently recognized by the Detroit Free Press as a "Top Workplace" in Michigan for 2011. In the large company category, Gentex was the highest-rated manufacturer and ranked 4th out of the Top 25 selected.

Gentex was also the recipient of a special workplace factor award for "Managers."

The annual Top Workplace competition is run by Workplace Dynamics, LLC, which reviews thousands of companies each year. Rankings are determined by employees' anonymous responses to a set of 24 questions about key workplace factors including managers, working conditions, career opportunities, company direction and leadership.

Just a few of the anonymous responses from the survey were "caring and hard-working co-workers, regular communication, the opportunity to work with new technology and innovative processes, and the chance to advance within the company." The criteria for the special workplace factor "Managers" award states, "My manager helps me learn and grow; Makes it easier to do my job well and listens to me; and I have confidence in my manager."

"No company is perfect," said Fred Bauer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We try our best, under practical circumstances, to be loyal to our people and, big surprise, they return that loyalty. Our pay and incentives are extremely unique, intended to create an ownership mentality. Our highest priority is always quality. The culture prizes innovation, both in design and on the shop floor. We encourage initiative and strive to improve in every way. What makes this award so special is that Michigan needs high-tech manufacturing jobs more than ever before. We're trying our best to keep these jobs here in Michigan."

Gentex currently is working to fill a significant number of engineering positions, primarily in the electrical, mechanical, and industrial and software development areas. Additional information is available at http://www.gentex.com/careers/.
