Gentex's Full Display Mirror™ Named 2016 Automotive News PACE Award Finalist

ZEELAND, MI--(Marketwired - Oct 27, 2015) - Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: GNTX) announced today that its Full Display Mirror™ (FDM™) has been selected as a finalist for a 2016 Automotive News PACE Award.

The Gentex FDM system consists of a custom, high-dynamic-range imager that captures video of the vehicle's rearward view and streams it to a unique mirror-integrated LCD display. The system enhances driving safety by optimizing the driver's rearward visibility.

The annual Automotive News PACE Awards program, with over 20 years of history, is widely regarded as the industry's premier awards program honoring automotive supplier innovation.

"We're privileged to once again be named a PACE Award finalist," said Gentex Chief Executive Officer Fred Bauer. "Our Full Display Mirror system is the culmination of years of research into cameras, displays and image processing. It represents yet another milestone in our long history of providing vision-enhancing technologies to the global automotive industry."

The Gentex FDM is distinctive in that it offers bi-modal functionality. In mirror mode, the product functions as a standard automatic-dimming rearview mirror. But with the flip of a switch, the mirror enters display mode, and a clear, bright, LCD display appears through the mirror's reflective surface, providing a wide, unobstructed rearward view.

This event opens the SAE Week in Detroit and highlights the top innovators in the world.
