GeoGlobal Announces Spud of First Well in RJ Block 20; Extension to Israel Licenses

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - GeoGlobal Resources Inc. (GeoGlobal or the Company) (NYSE AMEX:GGR) today provided an update on certain operational and exploration activities.

Rajasthan Drilling Commences on RJ Block 20

GeoGlobal announces today that the first well in Rajasthan Block RJ-ONN-2004/2 (RJ Block 20), has been spud. Phulasar-1 is the first exploratory well to be drilled in this block out of five identified locations. Oil India Limited, as operator of the RJ Block 20 is drilling the Phulasar-1 vertically to an estimated total depth of 1,500 meters to test the Jodhpur Sandstone and the Upper Carbonate group. GeoGlobal has a 25% participating interest in the Phulasar-1 exploration well.

The Production Sharing Contracts for the Rajasthan Blocks, RJ-ONN-2004/2 (RJ Block 20) and RJ-ONN-2004/3 (RJ Block 21) were signed on March 2, 2007. The adjacent blocks are located onshore in northwest India in the Bikaner-Nagaur Basin and surround Oil India Limited's producing Baghewala oil field. Combined, the blocks cover an area of approximately 3,526 square miles (871,293 gross acres). The consortium previously drilled two wells in RJ Block 21 as part of Phase 1 of the minimum work program.

"The information gathered from the previous two wells drilled on the RJ Block 21 have proved useful and we look forward to drilling the remaining prospects in both blocks," said Mr. Paul B. Miller, President and CEO of GeoGlobal.

Extension to Israel Offshore Myra and Sara Licenses

Petroleum Supervisor, Dr. Yaakov Mimran of the Israel Petroleum Commissioner's Office has granted an extension for the planned drilling program on the offshore Israel licenses known as 347/Myra and 348/Sara to July 13, 2012. Under the terms of the extension the partners will present to the Petroleum Supervisor their final prospects to the Myra and Sara licenses by August 1, 2011 and begin drilling the first well by January 1, 2012. Drilling of the second well will commence after completion of the first well.

"The extension granted by the Petroleum Commissioner's corroborates the effort of our team, our partners and the government to move our offshore Israel exploration program for the Myra and Sara licenses forward in a timely fashion," said Mr. Miller. "This extension continues our commitment to drilling our first well in this region which we still expect to happen in calendar year 2011."
