Beaujolais Biker Chefs to Escort Wine to Uncorking Ceremonies

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 16, 2008) - It is an eagerly anticipated celebration of the harvest, and in the United States a sign of the holiday season and delicious meals to follow. France's Beaujolais Nouveau will make its debut on November 20th. French law dictates that this vivacious, fruity red wine may be released at 12:01 a.m. on the third Thursday in November, a decades old tradition that has resulted in festive Beaujolais Nouveau celebrations around the world heralding the wine's arrival with costume parties, special deliveries, music, dancing and other special activities.

Leading Beaujolais wine producer Georges Duboeuf will present "Le Beaujolais Nouveau est Arrivé!" celebrations in New York and Miami on November 20th with a morning motorcade of "Beaujolais Bikers," chefs riding motorcycles, escorting cases of wine to uncorking ceremonies and celebratory lunches. In New York, heir apparent Franck Duboeuf, will officiate; in Miami's South Beach, Georges Duboeuf winemaker, Stéphane Queralt, will lead festivities. Not to be outdone, Paris Las Vegas is arranging a guest celebrity to light its famous "Eiffel Tower" Beaujolais red at 12:01 a.m. on November 20th to kick off a weekend of Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau celebrations at the hotel.

"The sun shone on this year's grape harvest in late September with 20 days of dry weather, producing very black, ripe grapes of dazzling colors, from deep red to shiny purple. Our first impression is that the wine will be more full-bodied than the 2007 vintage," said Georges Duboeuf in a harvest report dated October 1st. Duboeuf is the most famous producer of Beaujolais in the world, representing over 400 winegrowers in the region.

Beaujolais Nouveau is made from 100 percent Gamay -- a thin-skinned grape with lower tannins. Wine drinkers enjoy its freshness on the palate. The wine pairs perfectly with casual food and is also known by gourmets as a great complement to Thanksgiving turkey and ham. Beaujolais Nouveau is also affordable, coming in at a reasonable $10 - $12 per bottle this year according to William Deutsch, chairman of W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd. the U.S. agent for Les Vins de Georges Duboeuf.
