VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 28, 2014) - Geoscience BC is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Madu as Vice President, Minerals & Mining.
Bruce will provide minerals and mining-related scientific and technical leadership to Geoscience BC and direct new and existing Geoscience BC initiatives related to the exploration and development of mineral resources in British Columbia. He will work closely with First Nations, communities, governments, industry and Geoscience BC's advisors to identify project opportunities, design and deliver new projects and collaborate with partner organizations. Bruce will also engage with the public and industry to provide information on Geoscience BC and its role in promoting B.C.'s mineral resources.
Bruce is a professional geoscientist (P. Geo.) registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, and recently served as the Director of the BC Geological Survey, Mineral Development Office (MDO) in Vancouver. The MDO promotes opportunities in the province's minerals and coal industry and its geological and geoscience advantages. He has held several positions as a geologist within the Provincial government in the Kamloops, Prince George and Smithers regions. His work duties have included missions to the countries of Peru, China, Japan, Korea and India to transfer knowledge and share information about BC's resource opportunities. Bruce has additional experience in various positions across the province with crown land and water management.
Geoscience BC is a non-profit organization that receives funding from the Provincial Government. Our mandate is to attract mineral and oil & gas investment to British Columbia through generating, interpreting and publicly distributing geoscience data in partnership with First Nations, communities, governments and industry.
