Getinsured and NCQA's Agreement Increases Access to High Quality, Affordable Health Care

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2011) -, a leading private health insurance Exchange, has entered into an agreement with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a premier independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of health care. The innovative partnership enables health care consumers to use NCQA's trusted ratings to compare the quality of all available health plans.

NCQA assesses the quality of HMO, POS and PPO plans by developing and evaluating rigorous quality standards and performance measures, including HEDIS® scores. The highest level of NCQA accreditation -- Excellent -- is nationally recognized and indicates that the health plan has earned the most points possible on NCQA's evaluation program.

"Working together, NCQA and Getinsured will increase transparency in the health care arena, which in turn will drive improvements in health care quality and affordability," stated Rick Moore, CIO at NCQA. "Empowering consumers strengthens the entire health care market."

By publishing NCQA quality ratings for 446 health plans throughout the entire country, Getinsured offers customers with immediate access to unbiased, nationally recognized information about the quality of health care plans. Providing the information is consistent with and responsive to section §1311(c)(3) of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which will require health insurance Exchanges to provide quality information to individuals and employers.

"The ease with which Getinsured's health insurance customers -- employers, individuals and families -- can determine the NCQA status of health plans will drive competition in the marketplace and raise the quality bar for everyone," said Getinsured's CEO and co-founder, Chini Krishnan. "The agreement is win-win."
