GetWellNetwork to Sponsor 28th Annual National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic

Event, Hosted by VA, Trains More Than 400 Disabled American Veterans

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - Mar 20, 2014) - GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, today announced that it will sponsor the 28th annual National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic taking place March 30 to April 4, 2014 in Snowmass, Colo. The clinic, co-hosted by DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), is the largest adaptive event of its kind, offering more than 400 veterans a diverse range of training from rock climbing and scuba diving to self-defense.

"GetWellNetwork is honored to be a sponsor of the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic to support our veterans in their health journey," said Michael O'Neil, founder and CEO of GetWellNetwork. "We're reminded each day of the commitment and sacrifice of veterans and their families, and their determination inspires us."

The six-day program is open to all qualifying veterans who receive care at VA health care facilities. The event seeks to help military veterans with spinal cord injuries or disease, visual impairments, certain neurological conditions, orthopedic amputations and other disabilities. In addition to learning about adaptive Alpine and Nordic skiing and other sporting activities, veterans will have the opportunity to meet members of the U.S. Disabled Ski Team.

"GetWellNetwork is committed in its business practices to empowering patients -- many of whom are veterans -- to improve care, performance and outcomes," said DAV National Commander Joseph W. Johnston. "The National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic empowers those who served and helps our heroes to surpass perceived limitations and achieve new outcomes in their lives and recovery.

"We're grateful for GetWellNetwork's support of this event and believe their contributions speak volumes about their commitment to the individuals whose sacrifices make our freedoms and national prosperity possible," said Johnston.

GetWellNetwork volunteers will help veterans participate in Nordic and Alpine skiing, rock climbing, scuba diving, sled hockey, target shooting and snowmobiling.
