GetWellNetwork's O'Neil Center to Host Patient Engagement Curriculum Development Summit With Robert Wood Johnson Seed Grant

National Health Care Experts and Patients Gather to Define Role of Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in Patient and Family Engagement


BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - April 30, 2015) - GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, announced that the O'Neil Center, established to advance the science of patient and family engagement, will host the first-ever Patient Engagement Curriculum Development Summit on Friday, May 1, 2015, at GetWellNetwork headquarters in Bethesda, Md. The purpose of the event is to develop clinical competencies and a comprehensive curriculum for the role of nurses and health care professionals in patient and family engagement.

The summit, organized by the O'Neil Center and partially funded by a seed grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellows (RWJ-ENF) Alumni Association, will gather RWJF-ENF alumni and other experts in the field of patient engagement. Nationally recognized nursing executives, patient and family advisory council members, and other health care professionals will discuss the clinician competencies needed to foster patient activation and self-care management.

Organizations represented include the Institute for Patient- and Family-Centered Care, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), American Association of Colleges of Nursing, University of Colorado College of Nursing, Anne Arundel Health System, Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Emory Healthcare, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and more.
