G.hn Momentum Builds at CES With Live Demos and New Member Announcements

News highlights:

• HomeGrid Forum showcases G.hn networks with multi-vendor Interoperability, large-scale networks, operation in multi-dwelling units and a PLC-based Smart Home demonstration

HomeGrid Forum will be unveiling the latest developments in G.hn technology at Booth 21624 in the South Hall at CES this week, including demonstrations of consumer devices with built-in G.hn handling Ultra-HD services, and multi-vendor solutions for gigabit home networking. The demonstrations are designed to show that users can connect any device, anywhere in the home, over any wire using the fastest and most reliable networking technology available today.

HomeGrid Forum has also announced that KT Corporation (formerly Korea Telecom) has joined as a Promoter member, adding significantly to the growing momentum from Asian service providers, manufacturers and test houses that are pioneering G.hn applications in that region.

For the first time, smart TVs and Wi-Fi routers with embedded G.hn will be on display. Other exciting new demonstrations include multi-vendor interoperability within each of the three main G.hn system types (powerline, phoneline and coax), a large-scale network with multiple TVs running multiple videos over G.hn powerline, and a PLC Smart Home system. In addition, HomeGrid members will be showing how G.hn copes with 'Neighboring Networks' interference in multi-dwelling units (MDUs), a key differentiator between G.hn and other home networking technologies.

ALLION Labs, HomeGrid Forum's newly appointed Authorized Test House, will also be present at the HomeGrid Forum Booth to provide information regarding their HomeGrid Forum certification services.

G.hn networks can operate over any wire type, are simple and easy to install, and support the latest developments in high bit-rate applications, in particular reliably transporting multiple streams of 3D, 4K and Ultra-HD video around the home.

As an industry alliance, HomeGrid Forum represents many companies that are developing G.hn solutions. Participants in the booth this year include ALLION Labs, ARRIS, Comtrend, Marvell, Sendtek, Sigma Designs, Ubiquoss and Xingtera.
