Giant Tiger Bradford to Close

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 9, 2013) - Giant Tiger Stores Limited announces that the Bradford store at 182 Holland West will close on March 1, 2013.

In July, Bradford Mayor Doug White and Council Members asked Giant Tiger to delay the decision to close the Bradford location, in order to show Giant Tiger that retailing in the downtown core could be viable.

"We worked with the town and decided to wait until the New Year, giving residents an opportunity to rediscover Giant Tiger and show their support," says Greg Farrell, President and COO, Giant Tiger Stores Limited. "Unfortunately despite the very vocal support we did not see much of an improvement in buying patterns or customer counts."

"I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our customers for their loyal support over the years," says Store Manager, Chris Cavicchia. "Many heartfelt thanks also to my team for all of their hard work and dedication." His staff will be able to apply for employment at other Giant Tiger store locations.

Since opening in May 2005, the Giant Tiger store in Bradford has offered its customers the best possible value and service, along with everyday low prices. It has also been an active part of the community through fundraising and support for various organizations such as Scouts Canada (Bradford Venturers), the Bradford Helping Hands Food Bank, the Bradford West Gwillimbury Santa Claus Parade, the Bradford and District Minor Softball League, the Bradford West Gwillimbury Minor Hockey Association and the Town of Bradford towards an indoor soccer facility.
