CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - July 31, 2006) -

Gienow Windows & Doors Income Fund (the "Fund") (TSX:GIF.UN) reported today that on Sunday July 30, 2006 a fire broke out in the Calgary based Gienow division manufacturing plant. The initial assessment of the damages was completed on Sunday and clean up commenced immediately. The Fund does not expect any interruptions to its business as a result of the fire.

"Based on the initial assessment of damages and based upon the disaster recovery plans that the Calgary facility had in place, we were able to significantly limit the damages of the fire," said Mark Weder, VP Finance and CFO. "We do not expect any interruptions to our business, and in fact, as of this morning our core and primary manufacturing lines are up and running to their previous levels."

"Although this is an unfortunate incident, our organization should be commended for their discipline to safety and disaster recovery," added Dave Munro, CEO. "Because of this commitment we will see no interruption to our business processes and we will continue to meet the needs of our customers on a timely basis".
