Gingerich To Join BacTech Board

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 27, 2006) - BacTech Mining Corporation ("BacTech" or "the Company") (TSX VENTURE:BM) today announced that it has appointed John Gingerich, P. Geo., to its Board of Directors. Mr. Gingerich has been working closely with the management of BacTech for the past eight months, and he brings invaluable mining industry experience to the Company.

John is a professional geophysicist (APGO) with 25 years experience. In October, 2002, he left Noranda/Falconbridge and formed Geotechnical Business Solutions (GBS), a company focused on the development, financing and implementation of new and/or advanced technology.

BacTech also, at this time, accepts the resignation of Brad Marchant as a Director of the Company. The Directors wish to thank Brad for his time with BacTech and wish him the best of fortune with his future endeavours.


BacTech has developed and patented bacterial oxidation technology for the treatment of refractory ores and concentrates to enhance the recovery of gold, silver and base metals. BacTech has successfully commissioned three bioleach plants for gold and demonstrated its technology in the selective recovery of base metals from complex sulphide concentrates in a joint project with Industrias Penoles de C.V. of Mexico.
