Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. Raises Over $525,000 for Special Olympics Canada

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2006) -

Canadians across the country have helped to change the lives of athletes with an intellectual disability by donating over $525,000 to the STAPLES Business Depot/Bureau en Gros Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign.

To further show their support Canadians in all provinces signed more than 400,000 postcards throughout the three week campaign which will be sent directly to Special Olympics athletes at training camp.

Proceeds from Give a Dollar, Share a Dream. will help send Special Olympics athletes from across Canada to the 2007 World Summer Games in Shanghai, China.

"We want to thank everyone who has helped to make this year's campaign such a huge success," said Deborah Bright, President and CEO of Special Olympics Canada. "Once again, STAPLES Business Depot and their customers have stepped up to the plate and, this contribution will help make the athletes' dreams of attending World Games come true."

Team Canada athlete hired at STAPLES Business Depot - Ottawa

Christina Judd-Campbell spent 'Host an Athlete Day' at the STAPLES on Bank St. in Ottawa. She made such a positive impression on General Manager Stephen Tanner he hired Christina on the spot. "Christina is a welcome addition to our team," said Tanner. "We know when she wins gold at the games she'll wave to her STAPLES family from the podium."

Christina is a rhythmic gymnast athlete and is excited that she will be going to the Summer World Games in Shanghai.

Cathy Campbell, Christina's mom, commented: "You cannot imagine how grateful we are they see her strengths and she feels so positive. This is every parent's wish and desire for their child. Kudos to Staples for having insightful staff"
