Give STL Day Marches On: Old School

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwired - May 03, 2016) - Not even technology hiccups can stand in the way of the generous spirit of St. Louis. Donors wishing to contribute to their favorite nonprofits on Give STL Day can now use yesterday's tried and true technology -- the telephone -- to do so, officials with the St. Louis Community Foundation announced this afternoon. To make a contribution, donors need only to call 314-969-8655 and have their credit card information handy.

In addition to staying open until midnight Tuesday night as planned, the Community Foundation also extended Give STL Day until 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, to give nonprofits and their donors maximum giving time to give. In addition, a number of nonprofits are accepting donations over their phones as well.

"Give STL Day is a day to celebrate our nonprofits and we aren't going to let anything get in the way of this effort," said Amelia Bond, president and CEO of the St. Louis Community Foundation, founding sponsor of Give STL Day. "KSDK-TV, our promotional partner, gave us the use of their phone bank, which enables to take phone contributions. We'll be doing so until midnight tonight and again from 6 a.m. To 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday."

"This year, we are seeing the very best of St. Louis: its nonprofits and the many donors who support them," said Bond. "We are grateful."

Website issues first emerged around 10 a.m. and extended throughout the national donation platform being used to support Give STL Day and other similar "giving" efforts across the country. The St. Louis Community Foundation with the help of KSDK-TV began encouraging donors to phone in their contributions at approximately 2 p.m. CDT today.
