Glass Earth Announces Application for Approximately 21,600 Square Kilometer Otago Prospecting Permit in South Island, New Zealand

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 11, 2006) - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UNITED STATES NEWSWIRE SERVICES OR DISSEMINATION IN THE UNITED STATES

Glass Earth Limited (TSX VENTURE:GEL) ("Glass Earth") announces that an Application has been made for an approximately 21,600 square kilometre Prospecting Permit in the Otago Region of the South Island of New Zealand. Glass Earth believes this area is prospective for the discovery of new mesothermal Macraes-style gold mineralization. Glass Earth's expansion into the Otago Region of the South Island continues the Company's aggressive risk-managed strategy to explore for large gold resources in New Zealand's prospective terranes.

Otago Prospecting Permit

The Otago Prospecting Permit application has been made to the New Zealand Crown Minerals authority and it is understood that the application will take several months to process. If the application is successful, Glass Earth proposes a similar approach to that taken over the Coromandel/ Central Volcanic Region in the North Island - namely the collection and compilation of all available geological data into a single 3D database and an extensive airborne geophysical survey over the area to identify target areas for further ground exploration and drilling. The multi - million ounce Macraes-style mesothermal gold deposit will be the kind of gold deposit targeted by Glass Earth in its exploration program.

Relationship to HPD New Zealand Ltd's Existing Permits

As advised on 31 March 2006, Glass Earth has acquired HPD New Zealand Ltd. The Otago Prospecting Permit application covers the majority of the previously acquired Prospecting and Exploration Permits held by HPD New Zealand in the South Island. Most of these permits will be preserved but Glass Earth considers that there are several additional target areas which will be secured under the broader based and larger Otago Prospecting Permit application. Securing mineral rights to this entire gold district will allow a greater understanding and appreciation of the potential for new gold mineralization arising from the proposed integrated geological data base compilation and airborne geophysical survey program.
