GLBT / Marriage Equality Movement Gets Its First Magazine

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - July 1, 2008) - Exactly two weeks after California became the second state in America to legalize same-sex marriage, Feit Publishing Ventures has announced it is revitalizing the development of WITH THIS RING, the world's first all-inclusive wedding magazine, beginning with a re-launch of the magazine's website at

WITH THIS RING was conceived in 2006, but suspended amid rumors of a nationwide ban on GLBT marriages. As its tagline "For Every Kind of Wedding" suggests, WITH THIS RING covers same-sex, interracial, interfaith, and destination weddings, in addition to more traditional affairs.

WITH THIS RING builds on Feit Publishing's deep experience blazing new editorial trails: the company's first venture -- "Citizen Culture Magazine" -- was first dubbed "a New Yorker for a New Generation," then named a "Digital Driver" (Magazine Publishers of America) upon becoming the world's first all-digitally delivered print magazine.

WITH THIS RING is in the process of building partnerships, raising advertising and investment dollars, and expanding its editorial team. A free prototype issue, downloadable from the magazine's website (, includes exclusive content: an interview with San Francisco's activist mayor Gavin Newsom, a profile of actress Charlize Theron (who won GLAAD's Vanguard award for her vocal support of marriage equality), and a feature on shopping for pregnant brides.

"Two years ago, we observed the need for a magazine placing every commitment ceremony on an equal footing. Larger publishers didn't seem inclined to take a social lead, and publishers addressing the gay community alone overlooked the mission of the marriage equality movement," explains Jonathon Feit, the magazine's chief editor and publisher, who also produces the "EQUALITY MEDIA Newsletter."

"Now, as America's diversity conversation reaches the highest office in the land, the corporate world is more open-minded than ever. Advertising dollars newly dedicated to meaningfully touching consumers' hearts are sufficient to support this kind of venture. WITH THIS RING, therefore, aims to become a beacon for a community of like-minded individuals, in the best traditions of magazines like "Mother Jones" and "The New Republic." With enough wedding content, of course, to satisfy even the most romantic reader."

WITH THIS RING plans to reach readers via controlled distribution in boutiques, florists, restaurants, and hotels in GLBT-friendly cities nationwide.
