GLEN SHIELDS, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 10, 2011) - The Glen Shields 2000 Girls team are in the running to be named BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion and win the grand prize, which includes $125,000 to upgrade their community soccer pitch.

The champion team will also win a road trip to see a Toronto FC or Vancouver Whitecaps FC home game and a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Canadians can log on to BMOsoccer.com to cast their vote. The team with the most number of votes will be the BMO Team of the Week 2011 Champion.

The Glen Shields Sun Devils are impressive both on and off the field. The team's 2010 record led to a promotion to York Region Soccer League Premiere, the highest U11 league. The players also raised more money than any other team for the Vaughan in Motion Walk for Cancer. Recently, they volunteered at the City's Peace Tree Day Celebration highlighting peace and diversity within the community.

"We are rallying the Glen Shields community to support us in achieving our goal of becoming the ultimate grand prize winner of the BMO Team of the Week competition. WE ARE ONE, WE ARE GLEN SHIELDS!" said Glen Shields Sun Devils 2000 head coach Paul Dell'Aquila.

Some of the many initiatives the team has taken to help gain votes is distributing posters and business cards to local businesses and sending reminder emails to club members, family and friends. Please check out their website for more information on the team at www.gssc2000girls.com.

"We are all working hard and getting our friends and families to vote for us. We are a little club doing a big thing," said Tiana Kotys, Sun Devils goalkeeper.
