Glimmerglass Ltd. Re-Establishes a New York "Tech Valley" Office in Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley Really Likes New York

CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - July 8, 2008) - Glimmerglass Ltd. (GGL), a Global Business Development consulting firm headquartered in Cupertino, CA, announces the re-establishment of an independent Western United States link for New York's "Tech Valley." GGL has opted to independently promote New York's goal of becoming a major technology hub for semiconductor manufacturing, renewable energy, nanotechnology and data centers by working with New York's web of technology incubators, IDAs, state agencies, colleges, universities, startups and real estate developers. GGL brings its experience, expertise and extensive contacts into play to stimulate growth in upstate New York. Glimmerglass previously managed the Silicon Valley "New York Tech Valley West" office while under contract to the Center For Economic Growth (CEG).

The New York/Silicon Valley Office will promote New York's extensive array of quality of life and business benefits mostly unknown to businesses located outside of the upstate region. Expecting that AMD will be a "go" GGL plans to act as a conduit to help promote "Tech Valley" as a destination of choice for supply chain companies. GGL will provide regional companies with introductions to global semiconductor and equipment manufacturers.

GGL has opted to independently focus its efforts on NY State to help bring both high and low-tech businesses and investment opportunities to the entire upstate region while continuing to be involved in the pursuit of additional semiconductor fabrication and equipment supplier and renewable energy projects for "Tech Valley."

A GGL Tech Valley office is "work in progress" and a location announcement will be made shortly.

GGL has a long history of extensive involvement in Tech Valley having initiated the Luther Forest-AMD discussions through a CEG/Saratoga Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) introduction made over three years ago. GGL has an extensive list of clients including those in Europe and Asia for whom it has promoted and managed their regional hi-tech growth.

GGL was invited early in 2000 by CESTM (Albany NanoTech) and Intel to participate in the creation of a business plan for what is now Albany Nano Tech. While operating under a marketing development contract to CESTM, GGL assisted in exposing CESTM to its extensive network of semiconductor executives, scientists and industry associations. GGL created and designed the content and co-managed the "Albany Symposium" at Lake George, conceived the "Albany Nano Tech" name and assisted in the introduction of then Governor Pataki to a long time GGL associate, Dr. Robert Helms, then president of SEMATECH, eventually resulting in the creation of ANT/SEMATECH North.

Glimmerglass Ltd. is a strategic business-consulting firm (with a public relations subsidiary -- GGPR) headquartered in Silicon Valley, California. GGL was founded in 1999 by a group of hi-tech and semiconductor industry veterans. The founders, while employed by SEMI, and cooperating with International SEMATECH, were directly involved in driving the global semiconductor industry in the shift from 200mm to 300mm diameter wafers. GGL entered the Renewable Energy arena two and one half years ago and has both private and governmental clients whose businesses include solar, wind, biofuels and electric-hybrid vehicles.

The managing partners and their principals have extensive domestic and international business and technical backgrounds not only in renewable energy and the semiconductor industry but in a wide range of technology related companies including NASA, Lawrence Livermore Labs, Cap Gemini, IBM, SEMATECH, Cisco, Agilent, H-P, Varian, Strata Systems and SEMI. Their experience has included technologies and products ranging from lasers to digital imaging, semiconductor equipment, R&D for semiconductor processing, as well as managing corporate turn-arounds and the founding and managing of four successful hi-tech startups, one of which was hatched in a NASA managed incubator. Two of the partners are New York State natives (Buffalo and Cooperstown) who have never lost their love for the region.
