Global Branding Expert and Super Connector Anjula Acharia-Bath Joins Trinity Ventures

Acharia-Bath Seeks to Ignite the Connection Between Silicon Valley and Global Pop Culture

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - September 16, 2015) - Trinity Ventures, early backer of innovators such as Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Zulily, Bulletproof, New Relic, and Docker, today announced the addition of former Trinity EIR, Anjula Acharia-Bath, as a new Partner who will focus on marketing and business development for the firm as well as help identify and evaluate new startups. As an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and avid angel investor, Anjula's approach can best be described as a mash-up of tech, celebrity, and entertainment that identifies and cultivates entrepreneurs and ideas poised to shape consumers' lives. Named one of Billboard's 'International Power Players' and 'Top 40 Women in Music' as well as a member of Vanity Fair's 'Next Establishment' List as a "Titan disrupting media, technology and culture," Anjula is widely recognized for uniting tech and pop culture.

Anjula will bring a powerful network of unconventional strategic partners and celebrities to help Trinity portfolio companies become truly global brands as well as work to further Trinity's campaign for greater diversity in tech. While an EIR at Trinity, Anjula orchestrated and hosted an event that brought together a notable group of entrepreneurs and executives from Silicon Valley and Hollywood to discuss diversity hot buttons, a topic that is close to Anjula's heart.

"Anjula is a force of nature, pure and simple," said Trinity General Partner, Ajay Chopra. "Her deep network crosses industries and spans geographies in ways that very few people can match. She is remarkably adept at seeing a portfolio company's potential and amplifying it in a manner that is totally authentic. The doors Anjula has already opened will make a significant impact on our portfolio companies and on Trinity. We are extremely lucky to have her, and I look forward to seeing how she will help transform our consumer portfolio companies."

Anjula was previously founder and CEO of DesiHits!, a multimedia platform driving diversity in global pop culture. She has successfully introduced artists like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears to India and worked with long-time partner/investor Jimmy Iovine (Interscope, BeatsByDre, Apple) to launch Bollywood star, Priyanka Chopra, in the U.S. Prior to founding Desi Hits!, Anjula's background was in tech venture Search, which ignited her longstanding love affair with technology. Anjula has since become an active early investor / advisor in consumer tech companies like ClassPass, The Muse, Cue, The Hunt, and Mayvenn. In addition to funding numerous startups and helping them forge key strategic alliances, Anjula has been widely sought out for her counsel, branding expertise, and knowledge of global markets, and her positive perspective on women raising venture capital has been extensively covered in Forbes.

"I think what has always impressed me most about Anjula is that she has the vision to build and the passion to act," said Bill Werde, CEO of Fenton and former editorial director of Billboard. "People in the music business were talking about India, but Anjula was the one who brought Lady Gaga there. Lots of folks think about investments, but Anjula pulls the trigger on smart ones. And she does all of this while being a nice human -- an effortless networker -- because she's genuinely curious about and excited for other people, and it makes them want to work with her."

"I have a long history with Trinity Ventures that dates back to when I raised my series B funding for DesiHits!. I loved the dynamic and sincere approach to entrepreneurship, and I stayed in touch for many years with Ajay and was thrilled when he invited me to join as an EIR to explore my next move. During this time, I was able to look under the hood of Trinity Ventures and was delighted to find insightful, unique and diverse ways of thinking and an exceptional group of men and women who embrace each other's unique points of view. As an entrepreneur myself, I deeply appreciate the fact that this level of respect is an inherent part of Trinity," said Anjula Acharia-Bath. "Now I am thrilled to take my involvement up a notch. I believe that together we can seed an incredible global culture as technology and entertainment have the capacity to change the world in amazingly positive ways. I love diving in with entrepreneurs to influence that culture."
