Global Firm's Networking Begins Within

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 17, 2007 -- Today more than ever, enterprises are organizing company wide off-sites or retreats to align their staff, educate them and build synergies. These events also provide an opportunity for members of large multinational organizations to meet co-workers that they would otherwise only communicate with using various virtual technologies.

One organization that has been conducting these events for more than fifteen years is Vanco (LSE: VAN), the global virtual telecom network operator ( With twenty-six offices in twenty countries Vanco's annual "kick-off" event takes the form of three nights in a five-star hotel and includes training, group work sessions, evening events and sightseeing in such places as Lisbon, Budapest, Athens and Malta to name a few.

"Vanco has grown rapidly but still feels it is vitally important to bring all of its several hundreds of employees together once a year, to thank them for their efforts over the previous twelve months and to ensure we all share Vanco's mission, objectives and strategy for the future," explained Mike Piddock, Group Marketing Manager.

This year Vanco will be holding its kick-off event in Prague, Czech Republic and hopes to build on a "speed networking" exercise that was started last year. Internally (and irreverently) called "speed dating," this process allows each employee to meet and talk with up to six co-workers, in a short period of time. In all, over the course of forty minutes, the Vanco employees had almost 1,500 five-minute conversations last year.

In addition to Vanco employees, various clients and journalist are invited to attend. The event starts off with a media day where journalists are able to hear first hand the results of the previous year and even given the opportunity to interview Vanco executives and customers.

"Vanco not only gives its employees the opportunity to meet their foreign colleagues, or see a foreign land, but to get a true sense of how the company performed the previous year and to see where it is headed in the year to come, and beyond," added Piddock.
