Global IP Sound Adds EarthLink to Roster of PC-to-PC Communications Supported by VoiceEngine Technology

Beta Version of EarthLink Vling Provides Excellent Voice Quality to Make Phone Calls and Send Instant Messages From a PC Using Free Software Download

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 20, 2005 -- Global IP Sound (GIPS), a leading provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market, today announced that EarthLink (NASDAQ: ELNK), the nation's next generation Internet service provider, has incorporated GIPS VoiceEngine PC Advanced into its upcoming PC-to-PC voice application, Vling. This voice and instant messaging application, which is currently in beta, can be downloaded for free. The application also provides voice mail as a standard feature at no cost.

"EarthLink's leadership position in the Internet communications marketplace can only be enhanced by Vling," said Gary P. Hermansen, President and CEO of Global IP Sound. "We are proud to provide the voice quality solution for this communication tool. In addition, this announcement further validates VoiceEngine as the solution of choice for VoIP software vendors."

Vling, part of an extensive VoIP offering by EarthLink, provides voice quality that exceeds that of PTSN by leveraging GIPS VoiceEngine. EarthLink's product is unique in the marketplace in that it enables users to select specific coding / decoding technology given their configuration resulting in the best quality possible across a wide set of networks. And unlike other popular offerings in market today, Vling is built around the IETF's SIP protocol, rather than proprietary technology, to ensure compatibility with all other SIP devices.

"GIPS VoiceEngine provides a level of sound quality that you have to hear to believe," said Tom Hsieh, EarthLink's Director of Voice Products and Engineering. "Even without a headset, the sound is very nuanced -- so that you never miss a syllable of what is being said. GIPS VoiceEngine allows us to deliver a truly impressive product to consumers."

GIPS patented VoiceEngine consolidates all of the complex voice processing capabilities into a single solution to allow manufacturers to quickly and affordably integrate unmatched voice quality into their software solutions without in-house voice engineering expertise. Available for a number of platforms including both PC and PDA applications, VoiceEngine uses a high-level API and provides sophisticated speech enhancements, such as acoustic echo cancellation, noise suppression, and automatic gain control. VoiceEngine supports existing standards to further enhance ease-of-use, as well as advanced features including push-to-talk, multi-party calls, multiple channel support, volume control, and video synchronization. GIPS VoiceEngine PC Advanced supports a broad range of operating systems including Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows XP, Mac OS, and Linux.
