Global IP Sound Awarded TMC Labs 2005 Innovation Award for INTERNET TELEPHONY® Magazine

VoiceEngine Mobile Recognized for Its Excellence in Empowering OEMs to Provide Highest-Quality Anytime/Anywhere Communications to Users

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 28, 2005 -- Global IP Sound (GIPS), a leading provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice-over-IP market, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation's (TMC®) TMC Labs division has selected GIPS VoiceEngine Mobile to receive a 2005 Innovation Award.

"Global IP Sound has clearly demonstrated to the staff of TMC Labs that their product is truly innovative in the burgeoning VoIP/IP telephony industry," said Rich Tehrani, Group Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY. "Sound quality remains one of the biggest challenges in the VoIP sector -- and GIPS has raised the bar to an entirely new level."

Each year, TMC selects companies that have demonstrated excellence in introducing new products and technologies within its industry.

"We are very pleased that TMC Labs has recognized the significant contribution that GIPS has made to the quality and clarity of VoIP in mobile devices," said Roar Hagen, Founder and CTO of GIPS. "Clearly, customers are coming to expect an anytime/anywhere communications experience -- and OEMs recognize that allowing mobile device users to converse over an IP network brings an entirely new dimension to smartphones and PDAs."

"The TMC Labs Innovation Awards are based solely upon the uniqueness of the company's offering or how pioneering the particular product or service is. It is not based on company revenue or number of products sold. It is based on the concept that GIPS VoiceEngine Mobile is innovative," according to Tom Keating, CTO and TMC Labs Editorial Director.

VoiceEngine Mobile allows manufacturers of mobile, IP-enabled products to capture all of the benefits of GIPS VoiceEngine technology, including better than PTSN voice quality, accelerated product development and technology specifically designed for packet networks. The solution allows OEMs, even those without in-house expertise, to extend the mobility of end users, and to create products that are both easy to use and that improve voice quality substantially compared to previous generation products. VoiceEngine Mobile is available in versions that are optimized for devices that run on the Symbian operating system, such as smartphones or dual-mode cellular phones, which typically operate under difficult channel conditions, and in a PPC version, which provides the same benefits for personal digital assistants (PDAs).

"GIPS VoiceEngine Mobile deserves this great honor for creating a ground-breaking VoIP product or service," said Keating. "I look forward to seeing other innovative solutions from GIPS as they continue to contribute to the future of the VoIP/IP telephony marketplace."

Entries were judged by TMC Labs engineers, who apply their extensive knowledge gained from testing products, meeting with vendors and attending tradeshows, to select products that stand out in the communications, Internet telephony and call center industries. The TMC Labs 2005 Innovation Award highlights will be published in the July and August 2005 issues of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
