GlobalEnglish Launches the Business English Index at GlobalExchanges Americas Revealing Trends That Underscore the Urgency of Investing in Enterprise Business English Competency

Global Business Leaders Meet in Miami to Discuss Strategies to Advance Their Enterprise Fluency™ for More Profitable Global Expansion

BRISBANE, CA--(Marketwire - March 24, 2011) - GlobalEnglish Corporation (www.GlobalEnglish.com), the leading provider of on-demand development and support for Business English communication, announced today in Miami at the elite GlobalExchanges Americas summit the findings from the newly launched Business English Index (BEI), which reveal an insufficiency in the Business English communication competencies that are critical to effective and efficient operations across all global industries.

"GlobalExchanges Americas gathers some of the leading professionals in North and Latin America from global businesses for a game-changing dialogue about the undervalued link between Business English communication skills and overall Enterprise Fluency," says Tom Kahl, Executive Vice President and member of the Office of the CEO. "Enterprise Fluency refers to the communication, collaboration and operational proficiency companies must have to profitably expand their global footprint. Forward-thinking companies such as those joining us for this event are strategically investing in Business English skills as they know they are critical to advance their Enterprise Fluency."

The 2011 Business English Index is 4.46 out of 10 possible points, confirming that current Business English skills are insufficient to meet the demands of global business in the 21st century. More than 10,500 global employees in top global organizations from 152 countries were surveyed to develop the BEI. 77% of all businesses scored between 3.0 and 6.0 on the BEI. Scores of 5.0 or lower translate into a workforce that can understand only basic information on the telephone or in person, but cannot understand most business presentations, take a leadership role in business discussions, or perform relatively complex tasks.

"The BEI findings support what we have witnessed in the global marketplace for over 14 years from working with more than one million employees from the world's leading global brands across diverse industries. Business English is critical not only to the success of individuals in global enterprises but for the competitive growth of the entire organization," says Kahl. "Developing employees' Business English skills is no longer a learning and development nicety -- it is a bottom-line business imperative."

As globalization continues to top the list of strategic initiatives for large enterprises, the BEI was established to implement a standard way for businesses to benchmark their Business English skill level against other companies and allow comparison for trends across industries. The 2011 BEI report is the first in a series of annual reports on these measures.

GlobalExchanges Americas is an invitation-only event being held March 23-24 at EPIC Hotel in Miami. In addition to the launch of the BEI, the event will include take-away strategies from industry leaders, including renowned talent management expert, Josh Bersin, President and CEO of Bersin & Associates. Companies in attendance include Caterpillar, Johnson & Johnson, Banco Bradesco and Boeing among many other Global 1000 corporations.
