GM Canada Sales Grow More Than 5 Per Cent in 2015

OSHAWA, ON--(Marketwired - January 05, 2016) -

  • Chevrolet was the fastest-growing pickup brand in Canada in 2015
  • GM Canada delivers more than 100,000 full size pickup trucks
  • Buick GMC have their best sales year since 2002
  • Cadillac has its best sales year since 1979

Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 263,335 vehicles in 2015, an increase of 5.4 per cent and more than 10,490 vehicles than 2014. GM's retail sales increased 5.7 per cent through the end of 2015.

John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada said, "2015 was a year of solid sales growth and builds a foundation for 2016 as we move into one of our most aggressive launch years ever with new products for all four of our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands. Pickup trucks were our strongest performers in 2015 with both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra having their best sales year in their history and driving Chevrolet to be the fastest-growing pickup truck brand in Canada."

2015 Brand Sales Highlights:

  • Chevrolet sales in 2015 were up 3 per cent and in the highly competitive pickup truck segment, Chevrolet pickup sales increased by 22 per cent, driven by the strength of the Chevy Colorado -- Motor Trend's Truck of the Year and the Chevy Silverado -- AJAC's Best New Pickup for 2016
  • Buick GMC had their best total sales year since 2002 with 102,351 deliveries
  • GMC finished 2015 up 13 per cent, with its best year of total deliveries on record (85,757) and it was the best sales year ever for Sierra (up 12 per cent)
  • Cadillac had its best total sales year since 1979 and its best retail sales year ever with 12,249 deliveries, driven by sales of the Escalade (up 152 per cent), SRX (up 18 per cent) and XTS (up 13 per cent)

Total GM sales for the month of December were down 3.4 per cent with 18,591 deliveries. Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days December 2015 had 27 selling days and December 2014 had 25 selling days.
