GM Canada's First Quarter Core Brand Retail Sales up 30%

(Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days; March 2010 had 26 selling days and March 2009 had 25 selling days)

OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 1, 2010) - "Our March results continue to demonstrate that GM's strengthened product and brand focus is translating into sales growth for our core brands – Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service and marketing. "Our business plan is working and, with core brand retail sales up over 30 percent for the year, our fresh line-up of fuel-efficient vehicles is clearly hitting the mark with Canadian customers."

March also reflected impressive gains for Chevrolet's line-up of fuel-efficient small cars, which were up more than 37 percent, led by the Chevrolet Cobalt. The Canadian-built Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain compact crossovers with leading highway fuel economy continue to build momentum in the marketplace with sales up a combined 97 percent. In order to get more of these hot-selling crossovers into customers' hands, last week GM Canada's new president, Kevin Williams announced an innovative and cost-effective plan to significantly increase their production in Canada."

From now until May, with the purchase of a new eligible Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicle, GM Canada is offering a $750 GM Goodwrench Maintenance Card to help create a worry-free ownership experience. The card will be valid for three years towards maintenance or service related purchases and can be used at any participating GM dealership across Canada.
