GMR Transcription Announces 2015 Spring Scholarship Winners

Global Transcription Company Offers College Students Financial Support and Opportunities for Career Exploration

TUSTIN, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 6, 2015) - GMR Transcription Services, Inc. (GMRT), a global leader in the transcription and translation industries, is proud to announce that college students Alex Nielson and Sarah Rustom have been selected as the recipients of its 2015 Spring Scholarships. Awarded twice per year -- in Spring and Fall -- to two full-time college students who demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, the scholarship provides the winners with a $500 cash award and an opportunity to explore a career in the transcription and translation industry with a free transcription training course -- a $399 value -- from the renowned Transcription Certification Institute.

"Both Alex and Sarah have shown outstanding character and scholarly achievement, as well as a strong desire to make a difference by helping people, which is something we strive to do each and every day," says Ajay Prasad, founder and president of GMR Transcription. "In a world where many young people are living for themselves, we are honored to provide assistance to these exceptional and compassionate individuals who we believe will, indeed, make a difference."

Alex Nielsen, a student attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, realized after drawing from his own personal experiences his passion for the field of medicine -- and a desire to produce inspiring music. "Today, my goals and values are directly informed by my desire to innovate new techniques, methods and technologies to enhance science and improve the human condition," says Nielson. "The creative problem-solving and collaborative skills that I gained through the creation of music directly relates to the medical arena, where the synthesis of visionaries with brilliant minds ultimately improves patient outcomes through better differential diagnoses, techniques, methods and technologies."

Sarah Rustom, a Nutritional Science student at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, plans to attend medical school and feels that giving back is one of the best things a person can do in life. "It is truly eye opening to realize how even the smallest gestures can mean the world to somebody," says Rustom, who is involved in Delta Gamma Sorority, Pre-Medical Society and Aggie Cupcakes, an organization that raises money for the Brazos Valley Food Bank through bake sales. "In everything I do, I always find myself asking the question, 'how can I help?' I believe that I can truly make a difference, lighted by my passion for helping others, giving back and inspiring those in this world who are less fortunate."

As college tuition fees continue to soar, GMR Transcription recognizes that even for the most gifted students, the burden of cost can be overwhelming. "We offer the scholarship program not only to provide monetary assistance but also an opportunity for enrolled college students to earn money by receiving valuable training in a multi-billion dollar industry," adds Prasad, whose organization hires only the best and brightest. "Working in the transcription and translation industry is perfect for self-motivated and intellectually gifted students -- particularly those fluent in one or more languages -- who are free to work at their own pace as their academic schedules allow. We truly believe the assistance we provide can be life changing."
