The Gnome Life Launches Fandom/Geek Content Site and Slate of Feature Films and Games

The Multi-Platform Brand Offers Films, Series, Games and VR Content for a Diverse Audience; Kicks Off $20MM Film Fund With Alqur Studios

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwired - July 26, 2016) - Big Boots Studios' President and CCO Roger Mincheff and Anthony Kaan, GM and Head of Content Programming, announced today the launch of The Gnome Life, a new fandom entertainment content brand. The brand will produce both live action and animated content including features, episodic series, games and content for Virtual Reality, as well as a fandom/geek culture site. Big Boots also announced a development deal with Alqur Studios.

The first phase of content to be released for The Gnome Life is based on a wholly owned library of over 16 graphic novel titles. The genre bending content spans horror, fantasy, wizardry, deals with the supernatural, conspiracy theories, rock and roll and martial arts. The titles include The Proximity Effect, the highest selling original graphic novel (OGN) in major graphic novel publisher Top Cow's history when released. New projects are also being developed and produced with outside indie content creators.

Content will initially be distributed across two platforms, an editorial fandom/geek culture site, and a new YouTube channel, The Gnome Life. It will spread in scope across all media and platforms over time. A casual gaming app for iOS called "The Gnome Life" is also in production as well as several Video Enhanced Graphic Novels (VEGNs).

Big Boots has partnered with Alqur Studios, a Mexico-based film fund and studio, on a 6-picture deal that Alqur is supporting with a new $20MM fund. The partnership kicks off with a co-production of the Ron Jacobs directed State of Ward, about a corrupt undercover cop seeking redemption. The live action short film is shooting now in Los Angeles for a Q1 2017 release. According to Alqur, the second production, eV, will be released as a feature film and begins pre-production in January.

Big Boots and Alqur's finance partner, Accretion Capital, will also be exploring joint corporate acquisitions over the next 18 months in the digital and entertainment space.
