GoldCare Wins 2011 Canadian Health Informatics Award for Corporate Citizenship

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 10, 2011) - GoldCare, the market leader in healthcare management software, announced today that it has won the 2011 Canadian Health Informatics Award for Corporate Citizenship, as awarded by ITAC Health (Information Technology Association of Canada) at an annual gala event. Now in its seventh year, the Canadian Health Informatics Awards celebrates the country's top for-profit companies for their excellence in the use and advancement of information technology in the healthcare industry.

The Corporate Citizenship Award recognizes GoldCare for their high level of commitment and investment in the health informatics industry as a leader, peer and benefactor. This award is based on the winning company's demonstrated participation in industry associations and partnerships; attendance and sponsorship of industry events and conferences; support for industry initiatives and standards adoption; and overall dedication and passion for promoting the vision and goals of healthcare technology in Canada.

GoldCare's nomination and award win are attributed to its reputation for actively seeking and driving continuous process improvements in the home, community, and long-term care sectors. GoldCare is an early adopter and advocate of government initiatives and pilots such as interRAI MDS 2.0, interRAI Community Health Assessment, eReferral & Access Tracking Project, Health Outcomes for Better Information and Care (HOBIC), and more.

GoldCare has translated this knowledge into innovative client implementations that are addressing the biggest issues in Canadian healthcare, such as electronic health records, client privacy, point-of-care assessment, and referrals to services. Several of GoldCare's clients have received awards and grants for their incredible results in these areas, specifically improved coordination and access to care, and better clinical outcomes.

"We are honoured and proud to receive this award from ITAC Health, which highlights GoldCare's commitment to providing progressive healthcare technology solutions that help our clients achieve sustainable, system-wide change that is improving the quality of healthcare for all Canadians," says Paula Hucko, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, GoldCare. "We thank Closing the Gap Healthcare Group for their nomination, and are grateful to all our clients, whose collective vision and motivation give our work such meaning, and are an inspiration to the entire GoldCare team."
