Golden Gate Hotel & Casino Offers New Canadian Currency Exchange Bonus

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Sep 14, 2011) - The Golden Gate, Las Vegas' most historic hotel and casino, announced a new Canadian currency exchange program that will provide a 5% bonus payable in match play chips or free slot play. The bonus limit is $200 per day.

Mark Brandenburg, President and co-owner, explained, "Downtown Las Vegas is very popular with visitors from Canada, so we wanted to do something special for our neighbors to the north. We're a small, boutique casino, not a bank -- but we really like the idea of giving our Canadian guests more for their money."

Brandenburg added, "That means that our world famous shrimp cocktail will actually cost Canadians even less than $1.99."

The Golden Gate started the Las Vegas shrimp cocktail tradition in 1959, selling high quality shrimp in a large sundae glass at a price of only 50 cents for 32 years, then holding the price to 99 cents for another 17 years. When they raised the price to $1.99, the story was widely reported by the media, including the Los Angeles Times.

The currency exchange bonus is in addition to the usual benefits for members of Club 1906, the Golden Gate's player's club. The casino recently launched a new free play program that pays $1 for every 100 points earned and has been called the best in Las Vegas by Strictly Slots Magazine and the Las Vegas Advisor.

The Golden Gate Hotel & Casino opened its doors in 1906 at One Fremont Street, at the entrance to what is now the Fremont Street Experience. The boutique hotel features 106 recently remodeled rooms that blend historic authenticity with contemporary amenities, including pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TVs, and iHome clock radios. Similarly, the casino combines vintage Vegas with a high energy gaming scene featuring dancing dealers -- a contemporary version of flappers from the Roaring 20s. The restaurant, Du-Par's, has received recognition for the 'Best Pancakes in America' (Esquire Magazine), 'Best Pie in Las Vegas' (Las Vegas Weekly Magazine), and was recently named one of the "Top Five 24-hour Diners in Las Vegas" -- along with the Bellagio and Cosmopolitan (Haute Living Magazine).
