Golden Gate University Partners with Bertelsmann's arvato Digital Services

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2014) - Golden Gate University's (GGU) Ageno School of Business and Bertelsmann's arvato SCM Solutions recently signed an Education Learning Agreement launching a dynamic partnership in supply chain management education. Through this agreement, arvato's 66,000 employees worldwide receive discounted tuition to enroll in GGU's highly respected Operations and Supply Chain Management program to earn a B.S., and in GGU's Global Supply Chain Management program for an MBA or certificate. To enhance this effort, arvato will provide GGU with current case studies of its work with clients around the globe to be employed as teaching and learning tools.

"Our partnership with GGU is key to our continued leadership in the supply chain management industry," said Dominik Dittrich, arvato SCM Solutions Executive Vice President of Supply Chain Management. "Now our employees have exciting opportunities to continue their education while still working in this field."

"Today's global economy requires a high degree of competence in supply chain management and that is what we are preparing our students to create," said Richard Dawe, GGU Global Supply Chain Management Program Director. "Our successful practice-based learning approach will be greatly enhanced by arvato's real life case studies and subject matter experts."

In 2013, the Wall Street Journal noted that many universities had recently introduced M.B.A. concentrations as well as degree programs dedicated to procurement, inventory management and global supply-chain strategy to keep up with the demand from corporations looking to fill positions in these areas.

GGU is already prepared for this demand as it instituted supply chain management education as early as the 1900s, when it taught clerks how to fill out railroad and ocean shipping documents. Today, the program teaches professionals how to create modern, dynamic supply chains through advanced management practices such as collaborative planning-forecasting-replenishment, technologies such as robotics and cloud-based applications, and key analytics such as perfect order and economic value added. GGU's supply chain alumni work in all types of industries around the world, and many alums have come back to teach at GGU, including Douglas Carlberg, Director, Global BPO at DHL.
