Golden Living Names Cindy Susienka Chief Operating Officer

FORT SMITH, AR--(Marketwire - Apr 11, 2011) - Golden Living today announced that Cindy Susienka has been named Chief Operating Officer, effective April 15. In her new role, Susienka will be responsible for the operational management of all Golden Living companies as well as Golden Living's Sales, Marketing, and Clinical operations.

Susienka has served as President and CEO of Delafield, Wis.-based Golden Innovations -- one of the Golden Living family of companies -- since 2006. Subsidiaries of Golden Innovations operate a full range of comprehensive healthcare service businesses, including Aegis Therapies, Aegis Acute Rehab, AseraCare Hospice, AseraCare Home Health, and 360 Healthcare Staffing. Under Susienka's management, Golden Innovations has grown to become one of the nation's leading providers of recovery care services.

"Cindy has an outstanding track record both as an effective clinician and a proven business innovator who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to advancing quality and business growth," said Neil Kurtz, M.D., President and CEO of Golden Living. "I'm confident that with Cindy in this new role, our company will achieve new levels of operational excellence.

"Her leadership will enable us to work more collaboratively among all of our business lines, which will help to position Golden Living as the leading integrated healthcare provider across the continuum of recovery care services," Kurtz added.

Prior to the formation of Golden Living in 2006, Susienka served as Executive Vice President of Beverly Enterprises -- Golden Living's predecessor company -- and Chief Operating Officer of Aegis Therapies and AseraCare Hospice and Home Health. Susienka also previously held the positions of Senior Vice President of Beverly Enterprises, President of Aegis Therapies, and President of AseraCare Hospice and Home Health.

Before joining Beverly, Susienka worked with NovaCare, Inc. for 11 years, where she grew the business significantly as Regional Vice President with responsibility for therapy services at 100 skilled nursing facilities and home care agencies across the central and western United States. She also has extensive experience as a speech pathologist, including work in programs based in hospitals, outpatient settings and schools.

Susienka served as the president of the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care (NASL) and is currently vice chair of the Hospice Action Network, part of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).

She earned a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree -- both in communicative disorders -- from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was awarded Marquette's College of Health Sciences Distinguished Alumna in Speech Pathology and Audiology Award in 2002.
