Golden Odyssey Announces Start of 2007 Anchor Gold Project Drilling

RENO, NEVADA--(CCNMatthews - April 12, 2007) - Golden Odyssey Mining Inc. (TSX VENTURE:GOE) (PINK SHEETS:GODYF) ("Golden Odyssey" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that drilling has commenced on its Anchor Project located on the Battle Mountain-Eureka (Cortez) Trend approximately 6 miles northwest of Barrick Gold's Archimedes Mine.

The Company plans to drill six vertical holes ranging from 1,000 to 1,200 feet in depth focused on the projected intersection of mineralized structures identified in previous drilling with regionally permissive host rocks identified from geologic mapping. Based on the observed geology and mineralization, the Company is targeting an occurrence similar to that of the deposits of Newmont's Rain District on the Carlin Trend. The results of the first drill hole will be used to guide the placement of the remaining holes.

Mr. David R. Shaddrick, President and CEO states, "The Company has the ability to carry out its drill programs in a logically staged and technically sound manner because it has arranged to have access to a drill rig throughout the year. While evaluating the results from Anchor, we will be drilling on another of our seven active projects. This process will be ongoing throughout the year."

Golden Odyssey now has seven active projects, most situated on major gold trends. On the Walker Lane Belt in Esmeralda County the Company has the Golden Shirene, Morningstar and Palmetto projects. On the Cortez Trend in Eureka County, the Company holds the Anchor and JDS projects, situated on trend with Barrick Gold Corporation's East Archimedes mine and US Gold Corporation's Tonkin Springs Mine. On the Carlin Trend in Elko County the Company is exploring the Mexican Hill project which is southeast of Newmont's Rain and Emigrant Springs mines.
