Goldrush Announces Initial Reverse Circulation Drilling Results From Ronguen, Near the Bissa Project, Burkina Faso, West Africa

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 31, 2006) - Goldrush Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GOD) ("Goldrush" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the receipt of assay results from its initial reverse circulation drilling program at the Ronguen gold occurrence. Ronguen is located on the Kongoussi I permit and is only six kilometres northwest of the High River Gold Mines Ltd. Bissa Project.

The shallow seven hole (724 metres) test of this area of active artisan (small scale) mining consisted of five holes drilled in a northerly direction and two holes offset to the north and drilled southerly entirely within diorite. All five northerly drilled holes returned very encouraging results, primarily from the preferred host rock metasediments with hole RR06-02 reporting an excellent 2.64 g Au/t over 9.0 metres. Hole RR06-03, collared 210 metres east of RR06-02, returned 1.84 g Au/t over 5.0 metres. Hole RR06-04, collared 110 metres east of RR06-03, returned 1.63 g Au/t over 5.0 metres, 1.62 g Au/t over 5.0 metres and 0.92 g Au/t over 8.0 metres. Hole RR06-05 (the most easterly hole), collared 120 metres of east of RR06-04, returned intersections of 0.80 g Au/t over 6.0 metres and 0.57 g Au/t over 8.0 metres. As is apparent from the following table of significant intersections, the five holes drilled to the north contain a number of gold intersections, including four in which visible gold was identified from drill cuttings (Holes RR06-01 and 04).

The Ronguen gold occurrence has been identified over a one kilometre east-west trending length, and is outlined by artisan mining pits which yielded significant gold values from previously reported rock sampling during geologic mapping (see Goldrush news release dated May 31, 2006). The anomalous geochemical trend, including the Ronguen site, extends for 5.5 kilometres farther west on to the Tikare permit of Goldrush. Gold occurs in quartz veining and quartz stockwork primarily in metasedimentary rocks, but also at and adjacent to a sheared contact between the metasedimentary and dioritic rocks.

This initial 7-hole reverse circulation program tested only 740 metre of the known strike length of the Ronguen trend. Assay samples were taken at one metre intervals. A total of 721 samples and 133 control samples were submitted for assaying. With the very encouraging results from this work, the Company is planning additional detailed ground geophysical surveying to help refine the structural interpretation for this area, to be followed by additional drilling.

Results of the Company's rotary air blast drilling programs on the Tougouri and Nomikdou permits will be announced shortly.

Additional Property Acquisitions

In January, 2006, the Company acquired 21 exploration permits in Burkina Faso, West Africa from High River Gold Mines Ltd. Subsequent property acquisitions increased the number of permits controlled to 27, covering approximately 5,100 square kilometres of prospective geology.

The Company has been recently granted a 100% interest in an additional five exploration permits totalling 1,085 square kilometres, two of which (Yake and Salbo) are located immediately south of High River's Gargo permit (Bissa project area). Two others (Bouktenga and Zitenga) are located south of Goldrush's Mane and Noungou permits (Kaya group permits) and one (Talpelren) is located south of the Nomikdou permit (Taparko group permits). The new permits cover gold showings discovered during reconnaissance field trips or are extensions of gold trends already identified on contiguous permits.

With the acquisition of these five permits, Goldrush now controls 100% of 32 exploration permits covering approximately 6,200 square kilometres of prospective geology in Burkina Faso.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control

Goldrush follows a strict sampling and QA-QC protocol.

Reverse circulation drill hole samples are collected throughout the hole in one metre lengths. Approximately 20 kilograms of cuttings are recovered for every sample and split several times to obtain a 2 kilogram sample, which is transported to the laboratory. The sample rejects are stored at Goldrush's secure sample storage facilities. All analytical work is carried out at the independent Abilab Laboratories Ltd. in Bamako, Mali. The samples are subject to a full sample preparation followed by a 50 gram fire assay with atomic absorption finish. Individual samples with a gold concentration greater than 5.0 g Au/t are re-run with a gravimetric finish. Goldrush's QA-QC program includes inserting approximately 10% blanks, duplicates and standard reference samples with all samples submitted for assaying. Blind repeat assaying at the original laboratory and check assaying at a North American accredited laboratory are planned at the end of the drilling campaign. A 0.5 g Au/t cut-off grade was used for the calculation of all reported composite intervals. The maximum distance of dilution of assay below the cut-off grade included within a composite interval is 2.5 metres.

Grant of Options

The Board of Directors has granted incentive stock option for the purchase of 140,000 common shares at a price of $0.30 per share for a period of three years to a key employee.
