Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, Food/Beverage Editor CALGARY/ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - April 27, 2007) - Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery is pleased to announce the opening of their first café in Edmonton, Alberta. Good Earth, a Calgary-based chain of authentic coffeehouses, is well established in the Calgary market with ten cafes. The company expanded to Red Deer in November 2006 and has now landed in Edmonton. The Edmonton Good Earth is located at 8623 112th Street in the Campus Tower building. "The Garneau neighborhood, and its proximity to the University of Alberta really drew us to this location. It is a perfect place to launch our entry into the Edmonton market, " says Michael Going, President of Good Earth Cafes Ltd.

Jeff Knowles, the Good Earth Franchise Operating Partner for the new café says "We are thrilled to join the 'café society' of Edmonton. This city has such a vibrant street scene and strong sense of community. We are looking forward to playing our part in this great community."

Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery was founded in 1991, by entrepreneurs Nan Eskenazi and Michael Going. Good Earth began as a single café with a mission to be an authentic coffeehouse serving good food. Good Earth is now a chain of twelve cafes in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer Alberta. Seven cafes are owned and operated corporately, and five are franchised operations. Founders Eskenazi and Going are still at the helm of the seventeen-year old company, which has recently undertaken expansion via franchising as a growth strategy.

Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery will open several new, franchised cafes this year including cafes in Crowfoot Crossing in northwest Calgary, the Lougheed Building in downtown Calgary, a new +15 café in downtown Calgary, and several suburban locations. Expansion in early 2008 will include cafes in Okotoks, Alberta and Kelowna, BC.
