Gorillaz Confirm U.S. Radio Tour as Demon Days Storms Top 10

"Demon Detour" to Commence 6/6/6 in Seattle (June 6 at 6 p.m.)

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 2, 2005 -- Straight off the #6 Billboard debut of their sophomore album, Demon Days, Gorillaz have announced a series of performances to stream live from the websites of U.S. radio stations, beginning Monday, June 6, at Seattle's KNDD, and re-broadcast at later dates TBD. The band will also chat about the new record.

Reached with news of the 100,000-plus first week U.S. sales -- as well #1 entries in the U.K., France, Switzerland and Hong Kong, and Top 5 virtually everywhere else -- Murdoc commented on Gorillaz' behalf: "This is a great day! A great day for music, and a wonderful new chapter in the history of the world! It really does speak volumes for the taste of a nation if we've been made the chart toppers. And as I've always said, once we really get into the heads and hearts of the people, we're gonna run riot! So look out suckers, this is just the start! Hail Satan!"

Murdoc's bandmate 2D added, "Do I look bothered? Number 1? Whatever. (pause) It's number 1 in France? Really?..Bonjour!"

The U.S. radio tour, christened the Demon Detour, will be the animated quartet's most extensive North American trek ever, taking Noodle, Murdoc, 2D and Russel to over 40 stations in cities across the continental U.S., including SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

Continued Murdoc: "Hey. It's not enough that we've just recorded and released the defining album of the century, now we've gotta go tell the world about it! So, for this reason we've decided to do a tour of radio stations right round the States. We're gonna play some live songs, maybe talk a little about the album, crack some jokes. A kind of...press junket. You know, doing a tour like this is a little like running for office, campaigning for the listener's vote. Although in this case I think it's a little er...like bringing the mountain to Mohammed. I mean, we've just released a CD with 15 f---ing good reasons to vote Gorillaz, so if that ain't enough you're probably not the type of fan we should be after anyway. But, y'know, if you do need to be spoon-fed any further reasons, tune your radio in and if you're lucky you might just catch a dose of Gorillaz live in the studio."
