International Snowmobile Safety Week Is January 10-16, 2010

Contributing factors in snowmobiling accidents include drowning, unsafe operation, inattention, and operating under the influence of alcohol. Snowmobiling accidents can be prevented by following these 10 tips:

    1.  Never consume alcohol or drugs before or while you are snowmobiling
    2.  Operate at safe and reasonable speeds
    3.  Stay on trails and areas where snowmobiling is permitted
    4.  Avoid travel on unfamiliar frozen bodies of water
    5.  Use extra caution at night

        you plan to return
    10. Carry emergency supplies and learn basic survival skills
