WILMINGTON, DE--(Marketwire - September 05, 2012) - A new national website is doing its civic duty to help government workers at all levels get more bang for their buck at a time when every American is trying to spend more wisely and well, while providing an effective stimulus to business activity.
Gov-Savings.com today announced an initiative to save money for those that serve our federal, state and local government needs. Rolling out initially in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., the combined local, state and federal employment pool represents the largest employee base in these areas. The government workforce offers a huge pool of stable, responsible, middle- to upper-income buyers of products and services, a highly-desirable market for many advertisers.

According to the latest data from the United States Census Bureau, 14,769,859 full time workers and 4,829,604 part time workers were employed by state and local government in 2010. The pay to those employees in March 2010 amounted to more than $70 billion. Add in the more than three million Federal workers with more than $16 billion in payroll and the total market amounts to a potential audience of more than 21 million people.
Along with active military members, Gov-Savings.com will also offer the same savings to the estimated 25 million retired military members and many more retired government workers not included in the 21 million worker count.
"This is a huge group and we should provide them with a discount for their service to our communities and neighborhoods," Dennis said. "To give back is truly the right thing to do."
For advertisers, giving back through Gov-Savings.com can also impact the bottom line by exposing the business to a large new audience of potential customers.
Gov-Savings.com will launch shortly in the three above-mentioned states, and is currently securing commitments for businesses with the first roll-out. Eventually, the site will be made available in states across the U.S. with organizations who wish to promote their products to the more than 21 million active and 25 million retired government and military employees in the United States.
