Government of Canada Awards $134,800 in Funding to Fermes de toit JPC to Support Laurentides Firm's Growth

LAC-DES-ECORCES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 20, 2010) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, today announced the awarding of $134,800 in repayable funding to roof truss manufacturer Fermes de toit JPC. Awarded through the Community Diversification program, this financial assistance will enable the company to acquire specialized equipment for its new plant and improve its production capability.

"The Government of Canada supports dynamic SMEs that, like Fermes de toit JPC, set their sights on ensuring their long-term growth and that play a key role in their community. Necessitating an overall investment of more than $1 million, the project, based on secondary wood processing, will result in the creation of three new jobs and the maintenance of 13 full-time positions. It will also help to strengthen the Antoine-Labelle RCM, an area hard hit by the crisis in the forest industry, while promoting diversification of the local economy," explained the Minister of State.

The new equipment will allow Fermes de toit JPC to improve the quality of its various products, better meet the needs of its clients and increase its sales. With these conditions fulfilled, it will be able to take advantage of additional opportunities.

The company's project meets one of Canada Economic Development's objectives: to create conditions favourable to the sustainable growth and competitive positioning of the regions through investment.
