Government of Canada Awards $450,000 in Funding to Centre de l'entrepreneurship technologique of Engineering School ETS

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 23, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces the awarding of $450,000 in repayable funding, spread over three years, to the Centre de l'entrepreneurship technologique (Centech) of engineering school l'École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). This assistance will enable Centech, now in its 15th year, to pursue its activities.

"The Government of Canada actively supports organizations which, like Centech, foster the startup of technological enterprises that contribute to job creation and the advancement of know-how in the country," explained Minister Lebel.

Centech is a technology business incubator. It provides ÉTS's students and graduates with support services and training for startup businesses looking to commercialize an innovative product or service. This funding will allow Centech to pursue its entrepreneurship wake-up and awareness activities, continue offering its consulting services, and administer various programs geared to business startups.

Centech's services include two-tiered mentoring (technology and business), access to laboratories and specialized equipment, multidisciplinary consulting services (development of business plans, financial management, commercialization), hosting of startup companies and the organization of conferences and training programs.

This assistance has been awarded through the Business and Regional Growth program.
