Government of Canada Congratulates the Athletes Who Competed at the 2009 World Water Ski Championships

LAKES OF KASTYNSTONE, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 9, 2009) - The Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), today congratulated the efforts and performances of all our athletes who took part in the 2009 World Water Ski Championships at the Lakes of KastynStone.

"On behalf of our Government and all Canadians, I congratulate not only the athletes who won medals during the 2009 World Water Ski Championships, but also all the participants in this great event," said Minister of State Lunn. "I also want to recognize the efforts and dedication of the many volunteers, coaches, and employees who have worked hard to make these championships a success. This event could not have taken place without their hard work and the generous hospitality of the Predator Bay Water Ski Club and the people of Lakes of KastynStone."

The Government of Canada is proud to have supported the 2009 World Water Ski Championships at the Lakes of KastynStone with a contribution of $250,000 through Sport Canada's Hosting Program.

The Championships brought together about 150 athletes from 40 countries and provided participants and spectators alike with an outstanding opportunity to enjoy the highest level of water sport competition.
