Government of Canada Grants Funding to the Fondation du maire : le Montreal inc. de demain

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 8, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced the granting of $695,103 in non-repayable financial assistance to the Fondation du maire : le Montréal inc. de demain. This funding will allow the organization to pursue its mission of supporting business creation, notably through its many support services, while promoting the right economic conditions to ensure the sustainability of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) created by young Montrealers.

"The Fondation du maire : le Montréal inc. de demain is doing everything it can to develop entrepreneurship among the younger generation. That is why the Government of Canada did not hesitate to support it in its efforts," said Minister Lebel.

The Foundation expects this project to foster the creation of 100 companies by young people between the ages of 18 and 35. The entrepreneurs are offered a supportive environment to help them develop their entrepreneurial skills. Services provided to support Montréal entrepreneurship through the Foundation's business network and 250 expert volunteers include coaching, mentoring, the establishment of advisory committees and business cross-referrals.

This financial assistance has been granted through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program.
