Government of Canada Hails Inauguration of New Centre Communautaire Sainte-Brigide and Association Les Chemins du Soleil Sports Infrastructure

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 8, 2014) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes the inauguration of the new Centre communautaire Sainte-Brigide sports infrastructure. The Association Les Chemins du Soleil operates this important sports space in Montréal's Centre-Sud district.

Assistance was granted for this project in the form of a $324,000 non-repayable financial contribution through CED's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • This funding enabled the Association Les Chemins du Soleil to renovate and secure the inline hockey court located in the basement of the former Sainte-Brigide-de-Kildare church, and which it operates.
  • The work included demolishing three pillars in the centre of the play area. To do so, it was necessary to change the axis of the court, replace the heating, electrical and plumbing systems and renovate the storage areas.
  • This project used local labour, thereby contributing to the growth of the district economy. It also aims to increase the participation of neighbourhood youth and their families.
